I enjoyed my experience at this dispensary.
Pure Roots has set itself apart from other dispensaries by selling cannabis by the effect, rather than the strain. It’s a more modern approach. More and more research is showing it’s about more than the THC. A high is impacted by terpenes and cannabinoids. Yet, I have mixed feelings about strains getting demoted. I’m old enough to relish landrace strains.
Another differentiator is their claim of non-remediated cannabis. While I like this, concept a lot, when I asked my budtender more about it, there was no answer.
Pure Roots’ first location is this Ann Arbor store. At the time of this writing, there is another location in Centerline, MI.
Pure Roots is located on Washtenaw west off US 23 in a strip mall, with a major bus stop right in front of it.
What’s Near this Dispensary
If you like Sushi, you’re in luck. Yotsuba, a fabulous Sushi place about .5 mile away. Yotsuba is one of Ann Arbor’s best Sushi restaurants. Everything is so fresh.
If you’re into Middle Eastern food, Palm Palace is very close, just on the other side of US23 and on the same side as Washtenaw Ave. You’ll have a good, fresh meal here.
Across the street is Paesanos, one of my favorites in Ann Arbor, especially on this side of town. They have a wonderful wine selection. Pairs nicely with a good Sativa high.
If pizza is on your mind, Bigalora (a regional chain with 4 locations) should be high on your list. They also have a wonderful salad selection, if you’re avoiding carbs. They serve cocktails, have a huge wine selection, and a deep on-tap beer selection. This is a great place for couples and families.
Antonio’s Coney Island
A little bit of a drive further east: I love Antonio’s Coney Island and not for the coneys. This restaurant is owned by a Honduran family and has the most amazing Honduran food EVER. Don’t miss the huevos rancheros! The food here is well worth the drive, but not much in the way of ambiance,
A bit further east than Antonio’s is Casablanca, another not to miss local restaurant featuring Moroccan food. Everything is authentic, fresh, and incredibly tasty here.
Ann Arbor Thrift Shop
If you like thrift shops, the Ann Arbor Thrift Shop is just across the side street in the strip mall next door. You’re always able to find something here!
Pierre Paul Art Gallery
Check out the Pierre Paul Art Gallery and pick up some wonderful artwork. Pairs nicely with a buzz from Pure Root’s ‘Reflect’ collection.
Wheels in Motion
Wheels in Motion, is IMHO, the best bike shop in Ann Arbor. This crew knows bikes! I’m not sure how their inventory is faring during COVID, but in the ever evolving Ann Arbor independent bike store scene, this one is a standout. Even if you’re from out of state, buy your bike here and ship it home.
County Farm Park
County Farm Park is the closest large park in the area, at 141 acres. There are great hiking trails with workout stations along the trail. This park has picnic tables with some under a pavilion, in the event of rain. There’s a nice playground for kids too.
Huron Hills Golf Course
Huron Hills Golf Course is one of Ann Arbor’s public golf courses. From 3Fifteen, head east on Washtenaw and then turn north onto Hogback Rd, just on the other side of the highway. Turn left on E. Huron River Drive. The course will be on your right in approximately 1 mile. The total drive is 2.2 miles
