Exclusive Brands
Independent & Local Dispensary
3820 Varsity Dr.
Ann Arbor, MI 48108
Bus Route
Exclusive has a guard gate at the driveway, plus a guard inside. I can only speak for myself, but this feels like you’re going into someplace illicit. And, weed is legal! Cannabis has enough stigma attached to it and having someone question me as I enter the premises reinforces the stigma. Not cool, Exclusive.
Stepping inside, you’re hit by a wall of cannabis aromas. Which is quite amazing and might have made up for my grumpiness at being treated like a criminal.
There was one person in front of me and the wait was still about 5 minutes.
The décor was green plastic leaves on green plastic vines. It was sparse and uninviting. Lots of TV screens with fast animations of advertisements. The staff was not engaged – not friendly, nor rude – just not engaged. However, my young budtender was knowledgeable. The Sativa selection was extremely limited, which I found disappointing. Overall, this was a neutral cannabis shopping experience.
Exclusive Dispensaries has grown to nine dispensaries throughout Michigan. How many dispensaries does it take for a local store to cross over into corporate?
Exclusive Brands is in South Ann Arbor
Exclusive is located the farthest south of any of our dispensaries. It is in an Industrial Park and enjoys easy access from I94 via the State St exit.
If you’re flying into town, it’s also the closest dispensary to the Ann Arbor Airport.
There really isn’t much going on in this area of the city. You’ll need a car or other transportation to go, or do, anything else.

What’s Near this Dispensary
Mediterrano
Mediterrano is a terrific restaurant with a nice wine selection. This is one of my (Ann Arbor) favorites for paella (paella takes an extra 45 minutes) and, they have a nice wine list. To get to Mediterano from Exclusive Brands, head back to States Street, go north over the highway, and just past Eisenhower on your left.
Biercamp
Biercamp sells artisan meats, cheese, sandwiches, and house-brewed beer. They have indoor seating as well as a retail section.
Lillie Park
Lillie Park, with trails and picnic tables, is about 2 miles east on Ellsworth. Turn right on Platt and it’s on your left.
Southeast Area Park
Southeast Park is at Platt Road and Ellsworth and is a perfect place to play basketball. There’s a large shelter with electricity, as well as seasonal public restrooms.
Are you traveling through Ann Arbor? This park also has grills and picnic tables.
Oasis Hot Tubs
Oasis Hot Tubs are north on State Street. The last time I was there (before I got my own hot tub) it was a very pleasant experience.
There are two local coffee shops, kind of close to Exclusive. Okay, not so close, but if you’re jonesing for a coffee, these are the closest and best cafés to go to.
Roos Roast
Roos Roast, 1155 Rosewood St, Ste B. Their café is solar-powered. They have a limited food menu. It’s all good! Right now, there’s no indoor seating.
Black Diesel
Check out Black Diesel for a good coffee and a great selection of grab-and-go foods. Don’t miss their delicious pastries!
