Bloom City Club
Independent & Local Dispensary
423 Miller Ave
Ann Arbor, MI 48104
Bus Routes
Bloom City Club is one of the more popular dispensaries in Ann Arbor. People seem to like its rustic urban décor. The budtenders are generally well-informed and helpful. You can almost always find some organic weed here. I have never been to Bloom without having a wait – sometimes shorter, sometimes longer. The last time I was there I waited outside for about a half-hour, being thankful it was a beautiful day. They do have a nice inside waiting area, but this was in the COVID era and social distancing was practiced.
Bloom City Club has expanded to three other locations: Ypsilanti, Paw Paw, & Sturgis.
What’s Near this Dispensary
Sweets
Big City Small World Bakery
Directly across the street is a DO NOT miss Big City Small World Bakery. They try to source as local as within 20 miles and use organic flour and cane sugar. This is my kind of bakery! They have sandwiches, hot & cold coffee/teas, ice cream, and of course all your standard bakery goodies.
Big City Small World Bakery has a large variety of gluten-free and vegan baked goods.
You’ll need your walking shoes to get to any of the other closer restaurants and activities. Or rent an electric scooter and go to:
Dining
Detroit Filling Station
Detroit Filling Station is Ann Arbor’s favorite vegan restaurant with a pretty cool menu. (I recommend the chili.) The owner is a huge community supporter and pays her server staff well, and with health benefits. But ultimately the reason to come here is the great, healthy food.
Monahan’s Seafood
Monahan’s is not just Ann Arbor’s best fishmonger. They offer a limited lunch menu that includes…fresh fish. They make a terrific chowder, but make sure you get there early enough, they often sell out before lunchtime cooking ends. Note: if you enjoy hustle and bustle, this is the place for you.
Zingerman’s Deli
If you have not ever been to Zingerman’s, you owe it to yourself to try it. The whole of Zingerman’s is the experience. Get in line, and wait your turn to order the largest deli sandwiches you may have ever encountered. The Zingerman’s experience is expensive but definitely worth it, at least once in your life.
Durham’s Tracklement
If you’re a smoked fish fan, a visit to Durham’s Tracklement off E. Kingsley is your place. They specialize in smoked foods of all kinds. My favorite is any of their smoked salmon varieties. One of Ann Arbor’s hidden jewels. Note: this is not a restaurant, but a smokery retailer.
Kerrytown Chime
Kerrytown is a quick walk from Bloom. It’s not all food and shops. While you’re there, check out the bell ringing on the second floor. The public can play the chimes Wednesdays and Fridays 12-12:30pm, and Saturdays 10:30-11am.
Shopping in the Kerrytown District
Spun
Spun moved into a larger location on the first floor of Kerrytown, is a specialty fiber and yarn shop with a beautiful selection. They also have classes.
16 Hands
16 Hands is up on the 2nd floor of Kerrytown and has amazing hand-crafted arts. This is a perfect place to find that special present.
Encore Records
Find a great selection of vinyl records at Encore Records on fourth Ave and Catherine. They buy and sell vinyl and more.
Motte & Bailey Booksellers
Right next door to Encore is Motte & Bailey Booksellers a very cool used bookstore. If you’re a bookstore lover, don’t miss this store. You can get rare and signed 1st editions here. Great collection of posters and prints too. The owner is extremely knowledgeable and very helpful.
Around the corner, on Fourth Street
Ferne Boutique
Ferne Boutique (right next door to Today Clothing) carries ‘effortless style’, women’s clothes in sizes XS – 3X. Ferne is a fabulous place to shop for gifts.
Today Clothing
Today Clothing, a men’s clothing store (right next door to Ferne) always has the best-looking shoes in its window. Besides the very cool shoes, they carry pants, shirts, jackets, and accessories like hats and wallets.
Real Irish
Real Irish is the store for you if you’re looking for authentic Irish anything. From women’s and men’s clothes to household items you’ll find the real deal here. A perfect place to find that perfect gift.
Dear Golden
Dear Golden is a blend of vintage, one-of-a-kind items and modern (new) clothes for women. You can find a nice selection of apothecary items, from CBD to face masks to mushroom tinctures. They also carry vintage quilts and pretty cool gifts.
Literati Bookstore
Literati Bookstore is a must-visit bookstore if you are anywhere in downtown Ann Arbor. They are an award-winning independent bookstore. Award-winning with reason. They have broken the mold with plenty of author events and more. Don’t forget to get a coffee at the coffee shop upstairs!
Underground Sounds
If you’re a vinyl music lover, you may want to check out Underground Sounds at 120 E Washington Street. They have over 10,000 vinyl records and CDs in stock. Word of warning, no need to email them, they won’t answer – call instead. They buy, sell, and trade used vinyl records as well.
