Jars @ Platt & Platt Roads
Jars is part of a large group of dispensaries in Michigan and Arizona. I favor local and independent dispensaries. This particular dispensary is a block away from my home.
Jars, at Platt & Packard, is in an old beautifully converted gas station. My neighborhood was glad to see the ratty gas station completely renovated and the property now being taken care of. Walking in, you’re greeted by a guard. If you’ve been reading these posts, you’ll know this is one of my pet peeves. I’ll truly be glad when Federal banking regulations change.
Jars has reasonable pricing and is a comfortable place to shop. Although, if you’re looking for organic weed, the selection is limited. As a medical patient, I had to buy off the recreational menu to buy organic. I would shop here again, but probably only because it’s the closest dispensary to my home.
What’s Near this Dispensary
You’re in luck if you like healthy foods. Hut-Kay Fusion is just across the street, serving locally-sourced Indian Street Food. The owner is passionate about getting good and healthy food. Can’t go wrong with a healthy and great-tasting meal. Seriously, if you are on this side of town, eat here. Nothing fancy.
For some of the best pretzels and donuts, DJs Bakery is conveniently next door. People drive from all over the city to get these pretzels and donuts!
Achilles Coney Restaurant
A local Greek-owned restaurant is just down the block, on the other side of DJs Bakery. Achilles is a throwback to great service and comfort food, all at reasonable prices.
County Farm Park
County Farm Park, at 141 acres, is a great place to stretch your legs or have a picnic. It’s less than a mile away with dirt and asphalt hiking trails. The community gardens are beautiful when in season – roughly May through the first frost.
County Farm Park has picnic tables scattered around both entrances. In the event of rain, there is a large pavilion near the restrooms. There’s a nice playground for kids too. This is a perfect place to chill out.
Not too far away, at Southeast Park, you’ll find full-court basketball, play structures, and walking paths. Just go south on Platt towards Ellsworth and turn right. You can’t miss the park on your right.
Specialty Grocery Stores in Southeast Ann Arbor
This is a great side of town for small specialty grocery shopping.
Bombay Grocers, where anything you need to create a South Asian meal can be found. In the front, for a special homemade snack you can find some of the best samosas in town. Great for the munchies! Bombay Grocers has a 2nd location in Cincinnati, OH
Euro Market is across the street and one block away and worth the walk. You can find most Eastern European foods here. This is the only Eastern European food market in the area.
About 4 doors down from JARS is Galleria Market, the local Asian Food Market. You’ll find harder-to-find items here along with everyday items.
