Mission Ann Arbor
If you want to order from a computer kiosk, in the store, this is your place. If you want to buy corporate weed, here’s your place.
Mission has a couple of stands for recreational and a couple of kiosks set up for medicinal. At my first visit, I asked about organic flower and that seemed to really limit my choices. So much so, while I have a medicinal card, I ended up buying from the recreational kiosk. Mission offers a 10% discount if you have a medicinal card and purchase rec products. The discount is to offset added rec taxes.
My budtender couldn’t have been kinder and seemed knowledgeable. I didn’t see any product out on display and I wasn’t offered a sniff. Mostly I felt like I was buying online but in the store. They did have some accessories and wearables available.
Overall, my experience purchasing cannabis at Mission was fair. I was expecting more because there are three other dispensaries to choose from, within 5 city blocks.
What’s Near this Dispensary
Mission is in the middle of downtown Ann Arbor, right on Main Street. A visit to Mission allows easy access to many great restaurants and shopping.
Mission is two blocks from the Blake Transit Center and can catch all the buses from there. It’s easy to get to and from Mission from just about anywhere in Ann Arbor. Just check the bus schedule.
First Bite
Directly across the street is one of Ann Arbor’s most fabulous casual diners – First Bite. First bite features from scratch menu, made from local organic. First Bite is on a mission to serve delicious and healthy food. This is one of my favorite restaurants in town for a great healthy meal.
Fritos Banditos
Another casual diner worth a visit is Fritos Banditos – Cuban street food. For a quick fix, their Best Snack Ever will take the edge off your munchies.
Vinology
For a higher-end, but wonderful dinner, try Vinology, right across the street. You cannot go wrong with a meal here. As the name suggests, they have a nice wine selection as well.
The Black Pearl
Another great dining experience is The Black Pearl. Here you’ll find a nice menu with something for everyone. The Black Pearl is always a hit.
Snacks
Blank Slate Creamery
You are so close to your ice cream fix at Blank Slate Creamery. Blank Slate offers HOMEMADE and natural ice cream. Watch out for long lines on a nice day. They source as locally as they can for their ingredients.
You’re downtown Ann Arbor. Walk up and down Main Street and enjoy the many independent stores here. Highlights include:
Shinola
Shinola is a high-end store, selling products manufactured in Detroit. Okay, in the case of their bicycles, they are only assembled in Detroit. But their watches are made in Detroit. They also make beautiful leather goods.
Four Directions
Four Directions by GeoScape Rock Shop is a couple of blocks down, still on Main Street. You’ll find fossils, geodes, jewelry, and more at this whimsical gift store.
The Ann Arbor Art Center
The Ann Arbor Art Center is on W. Liberty and has a nice collection of reasonably priced artworks. If you like the arts, check out this gallery.
Books
If you are a book lover, there are two great books stores very close to OM. One is new books and one is used and rare books.
West Side Book Shop
West Side Book Shop is a used and rare bookstore. If you are a collector, you must make this a stop. It’s that simple.
Literati Bookstore
Ann Arbor’s beloved (and independent) Literati Bookstore is at the corner of Washington and 4th Street, just one and a half blocks away from Mission. Literati was named the 2019 Publishers Weekly Bookstore of the Year. This is not a large store, but you can always walk away with a new treasure (or four).
Blue Llama Jazz Club
If you like Jazz, you may want to make reservations at Ann Arbor’s Blue Llama Jazz Club. This is a truly inspired venue, blending the love of wonderful food and live Jazz – Tuesdays through Sundays. This is the place to catch dinner and a show.
The Ark
The Ark is a 400-seat, nationally renowned acoustic venue and features folk to roots music. The Ark is considered one of the top music clubs in the country. It’s a non-profit!
Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase
If Comedy is your thing, you’re in luck. Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase is right around the corner on 4th Street. It’s in a new venue, no longer in the VFW hall.
